CIREM Foundation

Methodology

The management structure of the project consists of the following elements:

Coordination Team

The consortium that applied for the project, led by CIREM.

Social science correspondents

They are social scientists with specific expertise on gender and science in their countries. They are required to perform the following tasks:
» To prepare an informed bibliography on gender and science research in his/her country, following the structure of topics and key words defined by the coordination team.
» To prepare a brief country report, summarising by topics the main results of the bibliographical search and identifying the main gaps in research.
» To participate in the discussion of their country-group report.

Coordinators of reports

The coordinators of thematic reports and synthesis report are social scientists with an extensive expertise on gender and science research. They belong to the institutions participating as partners in the consortium and are members of the Coordination Team.

Bio-natural and technological experts

They are gender-sensitive scientists coming from different fields (bio-natural sciences, engineering and technology) and countries. Their experience as gender-sensitive scientists in male-dominated fields, and, in some cases, as participants in gender-sensitive networks of scientists, is considered as particularly relevant for the study, in combination with the work performed by the social science correspondents.
The main tasks of the bio-natural and technological experts are the following:
» They are required to participate in the discussion of the draft country-group reports.
» They are required to participate in the discussion of the draft topic reports, providing specific recommendations for the synthesis report.

Steering Scientific Committee

The Steering Scientific Committee is formed by renown experts in gender and science coming from different fields (social sciences, bio-natural sciences, engineering and technology) and countries. The role of this Committee is to give scientific advice and to cooperate with the Coordination Team in framing the conceptual and methodological approach of the study and discussing the thematic reports.
The main tasks of the Steering Scientific Committee are the following:
» In-depth discussion of the overall conceptual and methodological approach of the study, the structure of topics and keywords;
» Review and discussion of the topic and country-group reports;
» Review and discussion of the synthesis report.
